Why Brother Abubakar Shekau (Darul Tawheed), Leader of Boko Haram Should Stop This Jihad
SUBJECT: PLEASE REVIEW AND HAVE MERCY ON US
I call you brother not because I am your mother’s son or a Muslim brother. But you are my brother because we are both Nigerians, although you have currently told us that you are the youngest caliph in the world. Brother, I know you have respect for Usumah bin Muhammad bin Awad bin Lad (May God Most High accept him in Paradise) and Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi Al-Husseini Al-Qurashi, but I want to draw your attention to Shaykh Uthman dan Fodio (may God Most High accept him in Paradise), the most influential Islamic scholar in the history of Islam in West Africa and perhaps Africa, because he was closer to us than the other two jihadists.
Brother Abu, in September 1804 Shehu Uthman dan Fodio announced the first jihad in Nigeria against the rulers of Gobir. His reasons for jihad were;
a. The inhabitants of Gobir mix Islam with paganism. The Hausa people were mixing the teachings of the Prophet (pbuh) with aspects of the traditional regional religion.
b. The rulers of Gobir imposed heavy taxes on the poor and suppressed the peasantry.
c. The government of the Habe or Hausa rulers was corrupt and inefficient. Citizens could not secure administrative justice in court without paying a bribe.
d. Law courts administered customary justice instead of Islamic justice. The main penalties for breaking the law were heavy fines that helped raise state revenue.
e. Trade laws to protect society from extortion were not enforced.
p. The Fulani (relatives of Uthman and Fodio’s) were excluded from the highest levels of government even though they were more educated.
g. The attempt on the life of Uthman dan Fodio by Yunfa, the ruler of Gobir.
Darul Tawhid, on August 9, 2009, your Boko Haram sect declared war on Nigeria. According to your spokesperson, the reasons for declaring war were as follows;
a. The adoption of a civilized or western constitution with provisions such as women’s rights and privileges, the idea of homosexuality, lesbianism, multi-party democracy, blue movies, infant rape, prostitution, drinking beer and alcohol and many others that are against Islam. civilization.
b. Killing your first leader Mallam Yusuf (May God Most High accept him in Heaven) in a heartless, evil and malicious manner.
c. Failure to adopt Sharia rule in Nigeria and
d. The existence of evil political parties ruling the country, the corrupt, irresponsible, criminal and murderous political leadership of Nigeria.
Brother Abu, I know I am not qualified to address you because I am not of your caliber in terms of age, wealth, size, education and fame. Also, my devoted association with “people of the book” is a great disadvantage in speaking with you. Please have mercy on me. I strongly perceive that the jihad of Sheikh Uthman dan Fodio, who inspired early jihadists such as Ahmadu Seku, Alhaji Umar, Samori Ibn and Lafiya Toure, also have a great influence on you. A critical look at the reasons for Uthman’s jihad and yours shows some similarities. But I want to say categorically that some of the reasons for your struggle are true, while some are unjustifiable.
Darul Tawhid, the Nigerian state has never made laws to encourage women to disrespect their husbands, nor have they banned women from marrying. All we have done is make laws that protect women from being treated like animals. They should be educated and not used as household tools. Uthman dan Fodio was very vocal in the education of women. He took the women out of their homes and put them in one area and the men in another area and started lecturing them regularly. My brother, Nigeria is not guilty of this charge.
The Nigerian National Assembly, despite all the pressure from the West, recently passed the Anti-Gay Law, which shows that Nigeria is against lesbianism and homosexuality. I am very sure that our leaders will continue to resist any internal or external forces that pressure them to legalize these heinous acts. I think we are not guilty of this charge. Also, this nation has laws that prohibit drug trafficking and rape, and some offenders have been properly punished. We are totally against drug trafficking and our country forbids rape. But your actions may be reasonable because nations corrupt law enforcement agents and the judiciary, who sometimes abandon or turn the law upside down due to the influence of the bribe. But by the grace of God all corrupt government officials will soon be wiped out of Nigeria.
Big brother, the issue of multi-party democracy, blue movies, prostitution, drinking beer and alcohol and many others that are against Islamic civilization are more complex. On this topic; multi party democracy sir i can’t say much about it because i think people should choose their leaders. I think I know your complaint, all leaders should be chosen by the Almighty. But I also think that the voice of the righteous majority is an indication of God’s will. A free and fair election will produce a good leader.
Pornography, prostitution and alcoholism are all threats to society. They have done more harm than good. Although our government has not made laws that prohibit these acts, but I only support the prohibition of these social vices. Almost all religions in Nigeria preach against pornography, prostitution and alcoholism. I also suggest that we teach Nigerians the good news of the Holy Book to avoid mixing the teachings of the Prophet (pbuh) with aspects of other religion.
Killing your first leader Mallam Yusuf (May God Most High accept him in Heaven) in a heartless, evil and malicious manner is highly condemnable. He was not given a fair trial but was killed mercilessly. We are guilty of murder. My only comment on this matter is; have mercy, show compassion and forgive us our sin. We can’t replace his life, but I know we learned our lessons the hard way.
My brother what I speak now is purely personal, the constituent entities that made up Nigeria are not all Muslims. Islam was mainly the state religion in most of northern Nigeria and other regions had their own religion. Nigeria has never been an Islamic state because the unification of 1914 united the various religions and insisting that citizens must convert to a particular religion may not be possible. Even Sheikh Uthman dan Fodio never forced the pagans to convert to Islam; on the contrary, they were subject to the protective tax. The Nigerian nation has a Sharia Court that has the power to try all cases related to Islam. I suggest that every Muslim should maximize the wisdom of Sharia Law, while other citizens should be allowed to practice their religion because jihad is not a declaration of war against other religions. It is worth noting that the Holy Qur’an specifically refers to Jews and Christians as “people of the book” who must be protected and respected. All three faiths worship the same God. Allah is just the Arabic word for God, and is used by Christian Arabs as well as Muslims. As long as the non-Muslims remain lenient and willing to live peacefully among the believers and do not aim to overpower the Muslims, it is your divine obligation to treat them peacefully despite their denial of Islam. Brother, let’s make a deal with the government.
Brother, you raised the issue of the evil political parties ruling the country, the corrupt, irresponsible, criminal and murderous political leadership of Nigeria as one of the reasons for jihad. My brother, I am your first witness in this matter. Corruption has eaten deep into the fibers of this nation. Today corrupt politicians are given National Honors and major titles. They fly in private jets because they don’t want to drive on bad roads. They travel abroad for medicine because they know they have turned our hospitals into dens of death. Their children study in the best schools abroad because they know that our schools hardly produce graduates who can compete favorably with their counterparts due to the waste of education funds. Abu, we shout and they pretend to be deaf. We cry, but it seems that our tears are not seen. Poverty and death are now the order of the day. Nigerians die everyday by the thousands because of these heartless and wicked politicians. In fact, the number of people who have died due to the looting of national funds is less than the number you and your sects have killed. If we sum up the number of Nigerians who die every day in vehicle accidents due to bad roads, those who lose their lives due to lack of drugs or people who died during fire outbreaks due to lack of electricity, you will agree with me.
If indeed one of your reasons for this jihad is to purge the evil political parties, the corrupt, irresponsible, criminal and murderous political leadership of Nigeria, then the masses are firmly behind you because they are our main problem not you. Brother, I have a question for you, since you started this jihad, how many corrupt politicians have you punished? All of them and their family members can afford the best safety equipment that will keep them temporarily safe. Some of them have even decided to live abroad and fly to the country in their private jets. The victims of jihad are the poor you claim to be fighting for. Abu, they are killing us every day and you are doing the same, what do you want us to do?
Brother, all these bombings, kidnappings and killings must stop. They promised us that in six months if they are in charge of Yobe, Adamawa and Borno, Boko Haram will be destroyed. We gave it to them and they asked for another six months which they also got. Now that they want another six months and people are asking; the child you couldn’t beat when he was crawling, how can you beat him now that he’s started walking?
My sincere purpose in writing this article is to apologize. We are sorry that we killed your great leader. We are sorry for promoting pornography, alcoholism and prostitution. I also apologize on behalf of our greedy and wicked politicians, have mercy on them. Remember that the Prophet Muhammad told his followers returning from a military campaign: “This day we have returned from the small jihad to the great jihad,” which he said meant the return from armed struggle to the peaceful struggle for self-control and improvement. This means that you can defend the faith against others using legal, diplomatic and economic to political means. Darul Tawhid, tell the government what you want and stop killing those you want to protect.
