Yahoo’s Overture Gone For Good? Here’s What To Do About It

Inventory.Overture.com — where did it go?

I was hoping it wouldn’t come to this, but I’ve been monitoring inventory.overture.com since last night and still haven’t been able to access it!

So what does this all mean?

The Internet is a fast animal and change is everywhere. We all have to learn to adapt and grow as needed, and that’s what we’re doing right now with Inventory.Overture.com and your market research.

So, I’ve put together some FREE keyword tools that are working! Some of them use the overture database, but that’s okay as they are still working at the moment.

I recommend using these tools in the order I recommend, as it gets more “tricky” as you go down the list. Please note that these are not affiliate links!

1. PixelFast

This overture-based tool seems to still be working. I recommend using it first as it will give you the same results as inventory.overture.com. Just type your keyword phrase in the box in the top left corner and click GO.

After that, you will be asked to enter the Security Code to verify that you are a human doing the search (not a robot!). Enter the Security Code they give you and click Search.

You will see that your screen is split into 2 halves. What we are looking for is on the right side of the screen. If you get an error message or server busy message on the right side of the screen, simply click the try again button or redo your search by typing your keyword phrase again into the search box at the top left of the screen and click Go.

If this tool doesn’t work, go to the next tool below.

2. VRE toolbar

This tool also uses the Overture database. To use it, just type your keyword phrase in the search box and click on Suggest. If you get an error message, keep clicking on Suggest until the results appear.

If this tool does not work, then proceed to the next one below.

3. Domain country

This tool is valuable and gives you 2 different database results for your key phrases. To perform a search, type your keyword phrase into the search box and press ENTER on your keyboard. There’s no search button that I’ve seen, so you’ll have to press ENTER to perform the search.

View the results as they appear on the right side of the page. This is what you should base your market research on.

If this tool goes down, here’s your next best bet.

4. Niche Taxi

WARNING: This page contains a scantily clad photo of a woman. It’s nothing we don’t see every day on broadcast TV, but I just wanted to let you know before you click the link.

However, as a tool, Niche Taxi works very well. Just type your keyword phrase in the search box and click OK. Don’t forget to check the box below the search box that says, “I agree to the terms and conditions of nichetaxi.com” From there, Niche Taxi will give you a list of results. You can then narrow your search even further by clicking on the results and “digging” deeper.

A great feature of Niche Taxi is that it gives you tips on whether or not you’ve found a seat. However, don’t worry about it. Many times they will say you don’t have a seat, even when you do. Just focus on the search terms per month.

If this tool doesn’t do it for you, here is the next best option.

5. Niche Bot Classic

Enter the keyword phrase in the search box and click “Search”. You will get 10 results with numbers showing how many searches were done in the last month. From there you can click on the words to dig deeper into the niche.

This site only returns 10 results at a time, so it’s not the best. But it’s FREE!

6. Google Key Tool

This is the search tool that Google has put together. While there are many great benefits, such as access to Google’s database, the results displayed are often difficult to understand or understand.

This last tool is something that could end up becoming the new “free” keyword research tool if it were to be officially shut down. I don’t want to confuse you too much and make you spend too much time with this if it’s not necessary.

Here is a brief overview of how to use this tool. The only problem with it is that you don’t get actual search numbers per month, you get a graph that shows a 1-5 based on monthly search volume.

In the middle of the page you’ll see a box that says, “Enter a keyword or phrase per line:”

In the box below that line type your keyword. Please note that you can do more than one keyword search at a time, but I recommend sticking to one.

Type your keyword phrase in the box and click Get More Keywords. From here you will see 4 rows of data.

Row 1 is the keyword results. Line 2 is the monthly search volume. Row 3 is the number of people competing in this market, and Row 4 is something we don’t need to know about right now, D.

The main thing you’ll look at is Row 2. Row 2 tells us how many people have searched for that term in the last month. The longer the box is green, the higher the number of searches.

Look for the highest search volume for your keyword and then the lowest search volume for specific keywords within those phrases.

For example, using “Make Money”.

The term “Make Money” has a search volume of 5 (basically, this means that the search volume box is completely filled). But other keyword phrases like “Make money from home” and “Make money working at home” have less search volume.

It is important to note that the search volume ranges from 1-5. You won’t see these numbers, but you’ll be able to tell by looking at the green amount in the boxes below row 2.

For what we’re doing, you can ignore lines 3 and 4 altogether.

And that’s how you use the Google Keyword Tool.

So there you have it. Go ahead and start looking for that perfect niche market.

Happy searching.
