Magickal Oils of Indonesian Shamanism Part 2

Note: The following descriptions of magical oils contain foreign words and phrases (Javanese/Arabic/Indonesian) – they are left untranslated for proper identification of the oils and associated mantras/prayers.

Minyak Istanbul

Istanbul oil is one of the most common magical types that is readily found sold in Arab communities throughout Indonesia and is worn especially by Islamic teachers. There are different notes and the good ones give off a very pungent yet aromatic scent. Once smelled, it is hardly ever forgotten. It remains as an eternal memory. The scent is quite persistent, sometimes lasting for days on the person and some say it can be felt up to 20 feet away – although that may be an exaggeration. Because of its sharpness, not many people get along well with it, saying it makes their head spin.

Minyak Istanbul although used as a common perfume among Islamic scholars, is also used by shamans as a powerful oil for romantic purposes, sexual attraction and charisma. When empowered with one’s personal energies and thought form, anyone within scent range would not only look our way, but feel drawn and desire to associate with us. The opposite sex would find us beautiful or handsome. Pure Istanbul oil is difficult to buy, most of what is sold in the markets is diluted and mixed with other oils.

The oil can be consecrated with the following mantra to attract a specific person:

“Ingsun matek ajiku sibayang-bayang rasa

“Aji minyak istanbul sings kramat pengasihan

“Siapa lihat dia terpikat and turut terpikat

“Siang kharisma nabi Yusuf as ada di wajahku

“Allahuma ya Allah” 7x

“Here is Muhammad” 3x

“Inkanat ila syaihatan wahidatan fa idzahum Jamiul ladaina muhdhorun” 7x

“Sing aku pantek si (name of person one wants to attract) datang padaku haqqul yakin.”

Minyak Sinyong-Nyong

Among the many miracle oils of the Dayaks is (Si)-Nyong-nyong. This minyak originated from the Iban tribe. It is a rare magical love oil used by the natives of Kalimantan mainly to keep a spouse faithful, although it is also used in other matters of the heart by both men and women.

It is said that men who come under the influence of this oil will never commit adultery, although they are tempted by the wildest temptation that the fairer sex can direct to them. Should a man succumb to the wiles and seductions of a temptress, he would find himself losing his sexual power and would be unable to perform the rite of coitus. The strange thing is that although impotent when it comes to other women, the body would function normally while fulfilling the sexual duties towards the legal woman.

Nyong-nyong is made through a complex ritualistic process that is kept secret by the producers of this oil. It is usually produced during the birthday of the powerful magical head of the tribe. According to sources, on this particular day, the enchanted bottles are compulsorily hung on a certain species of banyan tree for seven days and nights, after which the bottles are magically filled with a thick liquid, and this is known as Nyong-nyong. The rite is not always successful, which accounts for its rarity.

Nyong-nyong can be applied in many ways, one way is to be swallowed by the unsuspecting subject. A few drops in the subject’s drink are enough to make him reject the approaches of other women. The effect of the oil could only last for a few weeks or months, during which time the magician would repeat the process to maintain the status quo.

In general, the many love oils of the Dayaks can be applied to influence another using the following rite:

Take some dirt or soil from the footprints of the subject and wrap it in a piece of white cloth, after which a few drops of love oil should be applied to the package. After this is done, the soil bundle should be placed under the pad. The subject should then visualize himself in the appropriate manner while calling his or her name at least three times. At the same time, the pillow must be repeatedly turned and beaten.

Although difficult to procure, Nyong-nyong oil is available to those who seek it. Minyak Nyong-nyong can be found sold by some perfume vendors, street vendors and commercial psychics, although the authenticity of the oil offered is questionable.

Minyak Air-Mata Duyung

This oil is the secret of the eyes, or tears of the sea mammal, called dugong (sea cow) or “duyung” among the locals here in Indonesia. The creature sheds tears to lubricate its eyes. Duyung has long been believed to be a mythological siren and is related to the Greek “mermaids”; however, the latter is often referred to by Indonesian folklorists as “putri-duyung” and is quite different from “ikan-duyung” or dugong. Its scientific classification is as follows:

Family: Pugongidae in the order Sirenia.

Classification: Dugong dugon.

When unwittingly caught in fishermen’s nets, perhaps from the pain of war, the gentle and harmless dugong sheds these “crocodile tears.” Most fishermen are careful to wipe these tears off the dugong with a cotton swab before returning the creature to the sea. The juice on the cotton is later pressed and released into bottles.

Dugong eye oil or secretion has a wonderful yet light scent and is highly regarded for its magical power to attract the opposite sex and is often used on its own or a mixture with other magical oils of nature with high pheromones . the content. In appearance, “minyak air-mata duyung” is crystal clear like the water of a stream. Due to its scarcity, it is very expensive.

Minyak Bulus

Minyak Bulus is derived from freshwater turtle fat and is used as an active ingredient to increase the size of sexual appendages such as breasts and penises. It has a thick, yellow appearance. When buying this oil, you should be careful as there are many fakes in the market. To use this oil, simply apply and massage your chest or penis with it. Scientific research on the virtues of Bulus oil has not yet been conducted as far as we know, but generations of use of the oil lend credence to its amazing properties.

Minyak Apel Jin

During rites of spiritual invocation and evocation, shamans and those involved with the Islamic occult here in Indonesia often imbibe Apel Jin oil to facilitate contact. This oil has a black appearance. Thicker forms of this oil look like tar and can be burned on hot embers like incense. Apel-Jin is primarily used to conjure regional or household spirits or those entities belonging to the lower astral realm. Its composition is a closely guarded secret, but some say it contains products derived from domestic livestock or farm animals. Apel-Jin comes in different varieties and was originally packaged in brass containers resembling apples – thus giving it its name.

Minyak Lintah

Lintah means “linden”. Minyak Lintah thus translates to “Leech Oil”. This oil, like bulus minyak, is used to increase the size of the male penis and many have confirmed its effectiveness. The oil has a black appearance and flows from secretly prepared leeches. The application method is similar to Minyak Bulus.

Minyak Kesambi and Minyak Banyu Urip

“Banyu Urip” and Kesambi oils are the product names given by their skilled manufacturer. These oils are extracted from the sap of certain trees and then infused with magical power. The user only needs to consume the potions for the powers to begin to take effect in his body. The virtues of Banyu Urip oil are as follows: it strengthens the bones; creates-invulnerability to sharp weapons; causes wounds to heal quickly; strengthens the skin; gives magical protection against negative entities and forces; increases personal magnetism; it gives one “sabda siddhi” or makes words have power; increases psychic sensitivity, etc. Kesambi Oil is a class more powerful than Banyu Urip – in addition to invulnerability to edged weapons, it also makes one invulnerable to bullets. Consuming 7 bottles of each of the oils gives lasting long lasting effects of the powers.

Minyak Cimande

Among Pencak Silat martial artists here in Java, Indonesia, Cimande oil (pronounced: Chee-Mun-Day) is quite famous for its invulnerability power and its ability to help heal broken bones, bruises , wounds, muscles. pulls, sprained ligaments, etc. The physical formula and appearance of Cimande oil may vary from one shaman manufacturer to another, but the magical power that permeates them, as empowered by these manufacturers, is the same. Some of the ingredients of Cimande oil are few and cannot be easily obtained; therefore, from time to time, manufacturers of Cimande oils have to make do with what is available and use the best substitutes – this also contributes to the different appearances from one stock to another even from the same manufacturer. There are many of these Cimande oils sold in traditional markets, but not all are genuine – most have been diluted by their resellers to make more profit, so care should be taken when buying them. The practice of resellers cutting oils is viewed with a great deal of irritation by their manufacturers.

There are basically two types of Cimande oils – although there are said to be more. These two types of oils can look different, and often, even similar; however, they should be distinguished by their purpose rather than their appearance. The first type is regular Cimande “balur” oils that are used for massages, for healing bruises and minor injuries. The second type helps heal broken bones and is applied to major muscle injuries. It also grants invulnerability to melee weapons and blows to the user. Some Cimande oils can be ingested for organ healing. Cimande oils can have strong sweet and sour odors depending on the ingredients used.

Cimande oil is highly valued by those involved in martial arts and contact sports.

Minyak Ponibasawa

One of the magical oils appropriated in Islamic occult practice in Indonesia is Ponibasawa oil. This oil is especially used for discovering known treasures hidden in certain places or for manifesting money, gold and jewels through occult rituals. Genuine Ponibasawa oils are sanctified with Quranic verses and Divine Names — as recited by an entire “choir” of spiritual worshipers and their students. The actual power of the ponibasawa lies in the khodams or angelic servants of the Qur’anic verses and Divine Names anchored in the oil and especially represented by the needles immersed within them. Great energy is released from the oil even in the process of vaporization during occult rites, and this conveys the energies necessary for the khodams of the oil to perform their assigned task. Many anomalies have been observed regarding ponibasawa oils or its variants, such as when the bottle of oil is placed in a glass of water, it would cause the water to evaporate at a very rapid rate. Some have claimed that ponibasawa oil khodams do not like alcohol, so when brought near liquor bottles, the latter would shatter.

During rites of retrieving treasure or manifesting money or gold from the ethers, the oil is usually used along with high notes of “Buhur” or powdered incense. Certain prayers and mantras are recited to activate the power and forces associated with the oil.

There are many ponibasawa oils sold in traditional markets, but they are not all genuine and most of them are fake in the sense that they are powerless with occult power. The original ones are very expensive and scarce and are said to come from Turkey. Ponibasawa oils come in different colors and come in bottles sealed in larger glass tubes. The number of sealed bottles can vary, from one to three – or even more. In each of the sealed bottles there are a variable amount of empowered needles – the more needles they contain, the more powerful the oil – however, some variants of ponibasawa oil do not contain needles.
